Our child-centric classroom reform program transforms traditional spaces into vibrant learning environments. We focus on nurturing literacy, cognitive, aesthetic and social-emotional development, ensuring every child thrives. Discover how our approach empowers students for lifelong success.
Transitioning to a child-centric classroom model in autonomous low-income schools comes with its own set of challenges. These schools often operate within established cultures of teacher-centered, rote learning. While school owners may be open to adopting child-centric practices, they may face resistance from parents accustomed to traditional methods, who expect daily homework and structured lessons as markers of progress. Additionally, teachers may feel pressure to deliver quick, visible results, in order to cater to parents’ demands making it difficult to shift away from exam-focused teaching.
Despite these hurdles, providing a quality child-centric program is crucial to unlocking every child’s potential. Research has shown that early childhood education has a profound impact on a child’s future success, particularly in developing foundational literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills. A child-centric classroom fosters independence, love for learning and thinking skills, setting children on a path to lifelong learning and success. At Tejasvita Trust, we understand this and have developed a comprehensive Classroom Reform Program to support schools in making this essential transformation.
At the heart of our program is empowering teachers with the skills and confidence to implement child-centric teaching practices. We provide a robust teacher training program that equips educators with practical tools and strategies to create an engaging and nurturing classroom environment. Our training sessions are hands-on, focusing on how to use play-based activities, storytelling, and educational materials to foster a deeper understanding of concepts and make sure that every child in the classroom progresses. We don’t stop at training; our facilitators visit classrooms regularly, offering in-person guidance and ongoing support to help teachers adapt to their students’ unique needs and confidently apply new techniques.
Building a supportive home environment is crucial for a child-centric approach to succeed. We conduct interactive workshops for parents to introduce them to the benefits of child-centric methods. These sessions explain how play-based learning, hands-on activities, and a focus on social-emotional development contribute to a child’s growth. By involving parents and aligning their expectations, we create a community that supports the child’s learning journey both in school and at home.
To bring child-centric education to life, we supply schools with a curated selection of educational materials. Our resources are affordable and include manipulatives, art supplies, storybooks, and activity kits that cover key areas of development, such as literacy, numeracy, and sensory play. Each item is chosen to encourage exploration and self-directed learning. We also train teachers on how to integrate these materials into their daily routines, ensuring that they are used effectively to enrich the classroom experience.
We help schools establish picture book libraries filled with carefully selected books that align with our child-centric curriculum. With these books, children can explore stories, participate in read-aloud sessions, and practice literacy skills. Teachers are trained on how to use the books to enhance language skills, fostering a classroom culture that values reading and nurtures a lifelong love for learning.
We recognize that transforming classrooms is a journey, not a quick fix. Tejasvita Trust remains actively involved with schools for at least two years, providing continuous support to embed child-centric practices deeply. Our facilitators regularly visit classrooms, offer feedback, and help teachers refine their approach. Additionally, we collaborate with school administrators to develop a supportive culture that prioritizes holistic child development.
We understand the financial constraints that schools serving low-income communities face. We work with schools to explore ways to overcome financial barriers to support the additional costs associated with building materials and books for classrooms and getting an assistant teacher for each of the preschool classrooms.
Through our comprehensive support system, we help schools overcome barriers and create classrooms where every child has the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow. Quality child-centric programs are essential in nurturing each child’s innate potential and building the foundation for a brighter future. Our collaborative approach not only transforms classroom practices but also shifts perceptions within the community to fully embrace child-centric learning. This partnership ensures that, over time, the child-centric approach becomes self-sustaining, leading to improved educational outcomes and lifelong success for the children we serve.
